A mobile phone drawing (Art with friends app / iPhone4, 2014) inspired by the Marla character from the “Fight Club” movie. She is a dark yet also a loving and deeply logical character yearning for what humanity is lacking and she has always stayed in my mind as one of these sane crazy figures around us that make our world a little bit more hospitable. This edition is a Fine Art Giclée print on archival paper (100% cotton Hahnemühle 300gsm).
Limited edition of 100, 50×50cm, signed and numbered.
I seem to be haunted by the strength of an intense gaze, a theme that reappears in my drawings. I keep coming back to ‘Leo’ with the killing of Cecil the lion in 2015 always in my mind so that when I look at the lion what I am really looking at is the shame that being a human entails sadly more often than not. ‘Leo’ was made with quick brushstrokes on my mobile phone using the draw something app game.
