Digital illustration – character design. I wanted to create a living statue type street performer as I was fascinated by their devotion to their art. I was inspired by the illusion of complete stillness they create whilst becoming one with their surroundings. My aim was to create a visual counterpart of this. My Arlecchino is part of his surroundings and moves whilst keeping still.

€120.00I seem to be haunted by the strength of an intense gaze, a theme that reappears in my drawings. I keep coming back to ‘Leo’ with the killing of Cecil the lion in 2015 always in my mind so that when I look at the lion what I am really looking at is the shame that being a human entails sadly more often than not. ‘Leo’ was made with quick brushstrokes on my mobile phone using the draw something app game.
